Ruwer Train Trail and Mosel River Overnight Bike Ride

Spend two days bicycling the hills of the Ruwer-Hochwald and the Mosel River Valley.

Note: This event has already passed.

The Ruwer-Hochwald “Train Trail” is a bicycle trail on a former train track. The 50 km bike path, one of the longest “Rail-Trails” in Germany, will lead you through many different terrain types with plenty of rest stops and diversions along the way. From your start in Hermeskeil you will ride through forests and meadows, continually approaching the traditional vineyards and taverns on the sides of the Ruwer river. Your mostly downhill route will lead you to the village of Schweich, on the banks of the Mosel River, where you can enjoy fine Reisling wines and delicious meals. But your bike ride isn’t over yet.  In the morning you will continue approximately 50 more kilometers along the banks of the Mosel river, ending your multi-day ride in the wine Mecca of Bernkastel-Kues.
